So a couple weeks later they made a reservation at the casino restaurant, Iridescence. They were told that they could not use the certificates during special events. My in-laws first tried to use the certificates to book a room at the hotel the night of the Detroit Fireworks. I wish I could say this was the end of our very bad experience but it was not. This seemed utterly ridiculous, but we went ahead and did it. She did say, however, that in order to pay with a credit card I would need to photocopy the front and back of the card and my drivers license, fill out a release, and fax or email (very secure) the information back to them. Eventually, I spoke with a concierge who was very nice and very willing to sell me a gift certificate. The attitude from the staff was one of complete bother.
I was told by several employees that MC does not sell gift certificates, which I knew to be incorrect. I say tried because it took several hours and several calls to the hotel, gift shop, front desk, and concierge to find someone willing to make the sale. Several months back we tried to purchase a gift certificate to give as a gift to my in-laws who were celebrating their wedding anniversary. WARNING: DO NOT BY GIFT CERTIFICATES TO MOTORCITY - SHADY SCAM!!!!
